Our multinational and highly diverse team consists of 40 people across multiple locations. Our innovation centre is based at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, a leading European innovation hub, and we have a cell manufacturing facility in Scotland. In addition, we are expanding our manufacturing capacity with a new production line at the Brainport Industries Campus (BIC) in Eindhoven, giving us everything we need to realise our innovation.
Summary of function and duties
The Lab Technician has experience of working in a materials or chemical laboratory environment to strengthen our 3D battery team in Eindhoven. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Lab Technician to join our 3D Anode Development Team in Eindhoven. You will play a critical role in preparing, assembling, and testing baseline and new recipes, ensuring reproducible results in our cell development. You will focus on delivering high-quality, reproducible experimental results that contribute directly to the development of cutting-edge energy storage solutions. Collaboration is at the core of our work; you will work closely with cross-functional teams to support innovation and accelerate progress in anode material research.
This person will work closely with other colleagues on various projects within the LionVolt company.
Key responsibilities and requirements
- Prepare 3D anodes, other materials and assemble battery cells (coin and/or pouch) following SOPs; set up and monitor battery cycling tests, recording observations accurately.
- Maintain lab equipment and cleanliness; follow maintenance schedules for assembly and testing areas.
- Collect and report battery cycling data regularly; keep clear and organized records.
- Analyze performance data using Python or similar tools to identify trends and improvement areas.
- Share insights with the team to support battery technology development and optimization.
- Follow lab schedules and meet deadlines consistently.
- Work with care and focus in controlled environments like glove boxes or cleanrooms.
- Ensure accuracy and repeatability in all lab tasks.
- Operate and maintain lab tools such as glove boxes, ovens, and battery cyclers.
- Follow all safety protocols, especially when handling hazardous materials.
- Collaborate with researchers and engineers on testing and development projects.
- Help manage inventory and support ordering of lab materials.
- Experience in lab work or electrochemical testing is a plus.
Your Profile
- MBO level or a bachelor’s degree in chemical technology, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience in a laboratory or technical environment
- Proven experience in a research lab in a hands-on technical environment; experience with electrochemical testing is an advantage.
- Hand-on experience with materials analytical tools, like optical/electron microscope is a plus.
- Job level: junior/ entry level
- Proficient in English (minimum B1 level or equivalent)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
