LionVolt is following a two-phase approach. In Phase 1, the company is producing prototypes using a smaller, agile setup ideal for refining materials choices and process conditions. In Phase 2, roll-to-roll equipment is being prepared for installation, with the team expecting to start installations early next year.
In parallel, LionVolt is now producing early batches of battery cells at its manufacturing facility in Thurso, Scotland. The cells are will be supplied mainly to customers in aviation, wearables, consumer electronics and drones. LionVolt has stated that it is moving from one-off batches to offtake agreements and repeat orders that pave the way to a larger-scale factory.
