Senior Battery Research Scientist – Team leader

This is What you will do:

We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Research Scientist to strengthen our 3D solid-state Battery team in Eindhoven.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Work closely with the CTO team to define long-term strategies, roadmap, and plans.
  • Sharpening the research as well as development timeline to achieve set targets.
  • Lead a team of highly skilled scientists, engineers, and technicians to accelerate 3D solid state battery technology development. Facilitating and empowering team members with skills and product knowledge to push the boundaries.
  • Development of battery components by innovation in materials, processes, and with deep fundamental understanding of our company’s unique electrode and electrolyte technology.
  • Contribute to developmental projects involving Li-metal anode, electrode interfaces, and composite electrolytes.
  • Generating insights regarding electrode and electrolyte properties and their impacts on cell performance metrics, guiding future development aligned with our product roadmap.
  • Develop new chemical and electrochemical test methods for failure mechanism analysis and implement new electrochemical QC methods.
  • Technical project management, including planning and coordination of external projects with cooperation partners, and coordination of the academic network.
  • Drafts proposals, write technical reports, and presents progress on planned milestones.
  • Generate key IP for the company.

This is who you are:


  • You are a Ph.D. in chemistry, materials science, physics, engineering or a related field with at least 5 years of battery/electrochemistry experience which at least 2 years in a leading role.


  • You have proven experience in applied electrochemistry for Li-ion or next-gen Li-ion batteries.
  • You have expertise in developing hybrid/composite electrolytes for Li metal/Li-ion batteries.
  • Experience in Li metal interface with solid and polymer electrolytes will be a bonus.
  • Experience in technically leading projects, and team sizes above 3-5 people.


    • Thorough understanding of electrochemical characterization e.g. EIS, SOH analysis, charge acceptance, cycle life, abuse testing, etc.
    • Experienced in cell assembly and current best practices in battery manufacturing.
    • Thorough understanding of degradation and failure mechanism of lithium-ion batteries.
    • Experience developing technical specifications for materials, components, and assemblies.
    • Individual drive and flexibility to work in a rapidly developing entrepreneurial environment.
    • Resourceful, organized, with strong attention to detail and excellent interaction skills, capable of rapidly integrating observations and results into subsequent development activities.
    • Familiarity with Statistical Analysis and Design of Experiments preferred.
